It is especially important to have LPAs if you're married, in a civil partnership or the main provider for your family.
You may have assumed that if you were incapacitated, your spouse would automatically be able to deal with your bank account, mortgage and pensions, as well as making decisions about your healthcare.
This is not the case! Without an LPA, they won't have the authority!
